ARTIST SHARON SMITHEM
Sharon Smithem is a native of Buffalo, New York. Recently, Sharon is a professional artist who has has many public works of art through out Michigan. She now resides in Charlevoix, Michigan.
In 2000, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with emphasis on Painting and Illustration from Kendall College of Art and Design.
Sharon also toured Italy in 2000, 2002, 2003, to study art.
In 1998 Sharon started her own business creating artwork commissioned for individual homes and businesses. While she continues to create fine art paintings, she has perused other interests in different mediums such as mural painting, glass mosaics, mixed media, and sculpture.
Her inspiration comes from fellow artists as well as Alphonse Mucha illustrations and Gustav Klimt paintings. Sharon is a teacher of several art classes in painting, glass mosaics, drawing, and love to teach both children and adult education. Sharon also offers fun classes for parties and groups, teaching the group to paint a local scene or familiar memory.
